Tour stars early morning so that after leaving the city we will head directly to caves of David Gareja which used to be the leading religious and cultural center in medieval ages. The monastery complex located on the half-desert slopes of mount Gareja along Georgia-Azerbaijani board line counts hundreds of cells, living quarters, churches, and refectories, which are hollowed out of the rock face. Monastery complex has rich and eventful history. During Soviet times, the territory served as a training ground for the soviet military. Demonstrations of Georgian students saved the complex from complete destruction and nowadays David Gareja is essential part of world treasure due to its unique wall painting, frescos and multilingual wall writings. Insightful comments of guide will let you travel through time and learn a lot about the powerful history of the country.
During the trip we will stop for picnic in a picturesque terrain of Kakheti. Then we will continue our rout to Signagi, to the marvelous city with tiny cobblestoned streets and pastel houses, which is nestled on the top of the hill and which overlooks to Alazani valley and allows visitors to enjoy incredible views of snowy Caucasus mountains.
What a trip is without wine tasting? At the end of out trip we will make a short stop at wine cellar and restaurant “Peasant Tears” to enjoy the taste and flavor of traditional Georgian wine.
